2016 DOLORES SHIRAZ – Barossa Valley
Current vintage awards:
GOLD MEDAL – CWSA International Wine Awards
SILVER MEDAL – London International Wine Challenge
SILVER MEDAL – Decanter Wine Awards
Dolores is one of Karland Estate’s flagship wines. The name is borrowed from one of the Spanish titles of the Virgin Mary – María de los Dolores, meaning “Mary of Sorrows”, and is typically translated to “Our Lady of Sorrows” in English.
Dark colour, intense aroma, and an ultra full-bodied palate with masses of fruit weight – Dolores is the quintessential Barossa Valley Shiraz.
Appearance: Deep red with garnet hues.
Nose: Intense aromas of ripe plum, blackberry and peppery spice are complemented by sweet vanilla oak notes.
Palate: Opulent flavours of berry conserve and peppery spice are underpinned by luxurious vanillin oak notes. The texture is seamlessly smooth with a luscious velvet tannin profile that provides structure and length. This wine is drinking brilliantly on release but will reward careful cellaring and continue to develop well for many years.
For best expression of flavour; decant and allow the wine to breathe for 60 minutes prior to drinking.
Region: Barossa Valley
Alcohol: 15% Alc/Vol
