As a small company, we only select a few wine competitions to enter each year. We had a great time attending the display booth for the 2019 Decanter World Wine Award winners in Shanghai (November 15th 2019). Our Dolores 2016 Barossa Valley Shiraz was awarded a Silver Medal with 90 points, and a promising note from the judge.
Decanter Judges Tasting Note “This (Dolores) is both mellow and rich, its flavours of leather, tea leaf, cranberry, cherry and redcurrant swinging sweetly through the palate onto the long, chocolatey finish.” The full results can be found on the Decanter Wine Awards Website here.
We were very happy with the result in this internationally recognized competition that is a merit for any wine, and we will continue to offer our Dolores Shiraz at an affordable price as we have always done.
In addition to the Decanter Wine Awards, we were very happy to receive awards in all off the other competitions we entered throughout 2019, including; 2 Gold Medals at CWSA for our 2016 Dolores Shiraz and our 2017 Karland Padthaway Shiraz, Best Value award at Winestate Magazine, as well as a Silver Medal at the London International Wine Competition for our 2016 Dolores (again) with the following note from the judge:
“Blood red colour with beguiling aromas of red liquorice and gorgeously succulent plum and bramble fruit. Huge but deft and playful.“
In April 20`19, Karland Estate had the pleasure to sponsor wines to the Mercedes-Benz Sydney Fashion week, notably the Aqua Blue fashion event. Our wines were served both on premise and in VIP gift bags.
Throughout 2019, we were very proud to be a sponsor for the The Firm New Music 2019 concert season. The Firm was founded in 1996 and is an Adelaide-based organisation that promotes the performance of new solo and chamber works, particularly those of South Australian composers. It also provides a performance platform for some of Australia’s finest young musicians. Musicians and established ensembles regularly performing for The Firm include Robert Walser Ensemble, Eve Vocal Trio, Seraphim Piano Trio, the Zephyr Quartet; pianists Leigh Harold, Jamie Cock, Marianna Grynchuk and Anna Goldsworthy; sopranos Emma Horwood and Greta Bradman; tennor Robert Macfarlane; violinists Nicholas Milton, Micheal Milton and Hilary Bruer; violist Rosi McGowran and cellist David Sharp.
Karland Estate also attended 3 international trade-shows throughout 2019. Each trade-show was unique and enjoyable. At the ProWine Tradeshow in Shanghai it was great to be able to showcase our wines among so many outstanding well-known Australian Wineries.
A little later in the same month of November at the Tianjin Autumn trade-show we had a surprise interview with CCTV that put our Adelaide born sales manager Arland Grant’s Chinese speaking skills to the test.
We had an eventful 2019, and although 2020 is off to a slower start, we are still having a fantastic time selling direct from us to all of our wine loving friends. It has been really rewarding receiving so much good feedback, and being able to get great wine at a fair price direct to people’s doors.
